Trekking to Mount Datok!

  • Name: Shika
  • Interest 1: Adven-cha!
iyep..Mt. Datok is situated in Rembau district, Negeri Sembilan. It has a very nice view on peak, its all big rocks on top. My friend, Ai Nakkal recommend this mount over Mt. Nuang.Thanx to her good advise, Mt. Datok is considered ideal for beginner trekker. Our guide is trekking friend, Shahrizan Rosdi.
He brought the whole home necessary in his haversack; p
The view is paying, and the trek has 2 level.
  • 1st 30 minutes: pretty steeping
  • 1hour later: mostly slope
Lucky enough during our trip, the weather was good. Thus the scenery was spectacular.
  • The higher u climb, the more wind u can feel.
  • The higher u climb, air pressure starts to differ from the below land. Take ur time to inhale & exhale deeply. U might feel a bit dizzy here, for a while.
However for Mt. Datok, thats a sign our trekking is about to finish : D
We managed to reach the peak campsite within 2 hours. It was a playground size of campsite. Really u can run around or maybe fly a kite. The strong wind blow scares me of raining in the middle of night. So we start installing fly and ground. We even have the "kitchen fly" & "hall room fly". Luas sgt!

After making sure all our stuff is safe inside fly-tent, i start to cook while the guys are having their rest.

Dinner Menu:
  • Cabbage, Carrot, Fungus, Mushroom
  • Sausages
  • Vermicelli
  • Bubur Nasi
  • Though it's juz a simple dinner, as they said, its deli-liciuos 1.. hehe..
Its already 9.30pm when everybody had eaten  their dinner, we went up some rocks to view neon lights from below land. YEAP, it is very stunning to view the district from above. Selat Melaka, Tampin is also visible from here.(sorry,no pix for these.)
The wind is strong and with limited headlamp n lights,we light up a bonfire near the campsite. Few sausages left were grilled using my chopsticks as our supper.

Day 2, 26 March 2011
Phew! Its not raining! But the sunrise is not clear neither due to the thick fogs..ermm..so we head back to sleep-NOT. I rush to the kitchen's and prepare breakfast. Still the simple meal as water is running out now in day 2. Other hikers starts to climb the peak from dawn. We too, rushing up before more people filling the campsite.
for 2 solid hours, the peak is ours!!!

above is (said to be) a footprint of Hang Tuah. U can see trees beneath fogs.

Ladder to the top.

Oh My! the fog gush made me feels like on a flying carpet!

Then we finish our trip and head down to lower land. Since its weekend, a lot of people are coming up, while we are going down. So the trekker traffic happens....

And at last, we clean our body after we reach the ranger's office..in this river!refresshhing!!smelling better, we head home :D

It was 1 of a good experience. The trek has no leeches at all. Its a dry track. What makes me proud to be a hiker are; we share tips and if necessary, we help other hikers though we dont know each other. Most people in this (compassionate) activity are willing to help, open minded to share information and rarely a quiet person. They can even talk to flora, and fauna. haha kidding. They easily gives support to other hikers coz they know how it hurt when hiking without moral support.(ye ke).
